Commander of Operation Iraqi Freedom, General Tommy Franks, was frankly, a weird guy. While his Desert Storm predecessor General Norman Schwarzkopf would return to a hero’s welcome, there have been question marks over Franks’ leadership of the campaign. However, he did face much overreach from the Pentagon and the White House in his planning and execution of the invasion and transition into occupation.
